Borussia Mönchengladbach is a German football club based in Mönchengladbach, Germany, currently playing in the Bundesliga. It is the fourth-largest club in Germany, with over 30,000 members. In its first 60 years, the club played under various names[clarification needed] in the lower leagues in Germany, except during the Third Reich when it played for two seasons in one of the 16 first-tier leagues in Germany. In 1960, it won its first German Cup, and a year later changed its name to its current name[clarification needed], Borussia Mönchengladbach. In the 1965/1966 season, it was promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time. The team won its first Bundesliga championship in 1970.
