1. FC Union Berlin (German: 1. FC Union Berlin e.V.) is a German professional football club based in Berlin, playing in the Bundesliga. The club was founded in 1906 and began operating under its current name in 1966 in East Germany. The club's home stadium, the Stadion an der Alten Försterei (German: Stadion An der Alten Försterei, loosely translated as "The stadium near the old forester's house"), or "Alte Försterei" for short, is the largest football stadium in Berlin (the much larger Olympic Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium that also hosts athletics competitions and more), and has served as the club's home ground since its founding in 1920. The club is known for its dedicated and creative fan base, known as the "Eisen Union" (Iron Union).
