Etihad Stadium – City of Manchester Stadium, known commercially as the Etihad Stadium, is a sports venue in Manchester, England. The stadium was originally intended to host some of the events of the 2000 Olympics, but the city of Manchester failed to win the bid from the International Olympic Committee and the plan was shelved. Its new purpose was to serve as the stadium for the 2002 Commonwealth Games, at a cost of £110 million. After the games, the facility was repurposed as a football stadium, which began to be used by Manchester City as their home stadium after moving from Maine Road in July 2003 and signing a 250-year lease.
